When art comes alive
Mamlin MA15
Stripe paintings are not an entirely new theme in art history. Important artists have already experimented with this discipline of abstraction. Our chief designer, Dani Misio, is one of them, expressing his creativity as both a painter and a carpet designer. However, the idea of transforming his painted stripe paintings into carpets is something no one had attempted before.
The craftsmanship involved considerable challenges, but thanks to our outstanding knotters, they were overcome. The result was our Mamlin Collection . We have now expanded this collection with a new work of art, the Mamlin MA15: vibrant in form and calming in its coloring.
The jump into the cool water
In many countries, it has become a tradition to jump into cold water on New Year's Day. For example, daredevils in Rome jump into the Tiber, in Dresden it's the Elbe, and this custom also exists on the Baltic and North Sea coasts.
Don't worry, we don't want to throw you in at the deep end; we just want to awaken some dormant spirits. Because that's precisely what our Mamlin MA15 can do with facilities—it essentially brings them out of hibernation.
The cool blue, blending seamlessly with shades of gray, brown, and beige, becomes a striking and uplifting element thanks to its striped pattern. The viewer's gaze is drawn into the image of open lines and harmonizing colors. The gold tones at the edge of the carpet provide a finishing touch, yet the continuous stripes leave room for further interpretation.
Craftsmanship that is second to none
What makes the Mamlin MA15 a true work of art is not just its design, but also the artistry of its Weaving and the very special materials used. The Mamlin MA15 is made of equal parts Himalayan highland wool and exquisite Chinese silk. The varying pile heights of the two materials create texture and thus a captivating interplay of light and shadow on the carpet's surface.
The wool loop knot lies in the background, while a line of silk is positioned slightly higher, giving the rug the elegance and feel of a pure silk carpet . The combination of wool and silk makes the Mamlin MA15 a durable and robust companion that will retain its freshness and radiance even after years of use.
Sustainable manufacturing and fair cooperation
It takes several weeks to months to create such a rug. The Mischioff Manufactory in Nepal is certified by the Swiss Fair Trade label STEP, which means fair wages for the people working there, childcare for toddlers, and schooling for older children during working hours.
But it's not just the working conditions that are meticulously inspected; the supply chains and thus the entire value chain are also subject to strict controls. Fair trade carpets are an important concern for the Mischioff managing directors and their partners, reflecting their understanding of quality and their appreciation for the craftsmanship of their weavers.
