Svarga Plain ARS1A20
The phrase “hanging by a thread” means danger and threat. It suggests that a silk thread would not be safe and, above all, not tear-resistant. However, exactly the opposite is the case. So if your life ever hangs in the balance, sit back and relax, there is no need to panic.
Our inspiration presented here is a pure silk carpet from the Svarga Plain Collection. This carpet collection combines our plain-colored carpets made from 100 percent high-quality Chinese silk. A total of 1,400 colors are available for a Svarga Plain. For our inspiration, we chose the color ARS1A20, an elegant and reserved gray tone that particularly emphasizes the advantages of a pure silk carpet.
An error in Greek history
The story goes that Damocles envied his ruler Dionysius for his power and wealth. Dionysius then gave Damocles his place at the royal table. However, when Damocles noticed that there was a sword hanging over his head, hanging by only a thin thread, he willingly gave up the place, understanding the lesson: wealth and power do not provide protection from danger, but are often the cause of it. The origin of the expression “hanging by a thread” is attributed to this story. It can be assumed that the saying probably means that the thread must have been very thin, because it is undoubtedly a silk thread. But it usually doesn't tear.
The natural fiber silk has remarkable properties. The structure of the fiber is very fine and smooth, which makes silk so supple and soft. It has the highest elasticity of all natural fibers, which is one reason for its enormous tear resistance. The fact that silk threads are very thin enables a particularly high knotting density, especially when making carpets. Our Svarga Plain ARS1A20 has a knot density of 125,000 knots per square meter. Together with the pile height of 20 millimeters, this makes it an extremely luxurious furnishing element for living spaces.
