Nilanda NI41
The Mischioff Nilanda Collection has been around since 2017. It unites masterpieces of carpet design, which are predominantly knotted from pure silk and in which highland wool is used to accentuate the design.
And with the new NI41 design, a new star graces our Nilanda stage. We're crowning it our Inspiration of the Month, because like no other, it needs the applause and the limelight. And that's exactly what it deserves.
Curtain up!
The color scheme, material, and design of the Nilanda NI41 create a presence worthy of a grand stage. This designer rug engages its audience. It entices, it enchants, and it captivates everyone. Its shimmering silver surface sparks energy in any room, illuminating it and creating a fascinating tension through the contrasting black. This tension continues on many levels.
Although dramaturgy is a term from theater theory, our Nilanda NI41 fulfills all the requirements for a world-class piece. The material from which dreams are made, the exquisite Chinese silk, creates a backdrop that perfectly sets the stage action. And there on stage, vibrant shades of gray, black, and silver engage in dialogue against a sand-colored background, vying for the audience's favor. At times, highland wool enters the parquet, setting accents, maintaining tension, and directing the gaze.
Invitation to participate
Narratively, our Nilanda NI41 spans the spectrum from classic carpet ornamentation with a central medallion, through vintage design, to modern carpet art , which, without forgetting traditions, creates entirely new carpet experiences. These experiences necessarily involve the audience as co-creators.
This transforms a carpet into more than just a visual object; it becomes an invitation to participate, to empathize, and to co-create. Whoever chooses to furnish their space with a Nilanda NI41 also determines the ever-open and expandable narrative of this masterpiece.
Behind the scenes
While the design instructions for the Mischioff carpets are being finalized in the Swiss design studio, weavers in faraway Nepal are busy bringing these instructions to life. This requires great attention and skill at every stage of the process.
The Swiss certification label STEP acts as the orchestra in this process, ensuring fair and humane working conditions. STEP supports families employed in carpet manufacturing, monitors suppliers, and guarantees fair and sustainable conditions throughout the entire process.
