Expressive personality

Sichouk SI46

Do you see pebbles in a river? Do you see mountain ranges glittering in the sun? Or do you just see a series of different colored surfaces? Does looking at this carpet remind you of Pablo Picasso? What is your personal association with our inspiration of the month, the Sichouk SI46?

Without starting a reception-aesthetic treatise on carpet viewing at this point, the questions asked are intended to emphasize the importance of the viewer. Especially since our designer carpets reflect the personal living and living situations of their owners. Because no one puts a carpet in their living room or bedroom that they don't like and that doesn't enhance their feeling of well-being in some way.

Personality as key

The Sichouk SI46 has personality. Unobtrusive in color, yet expressive in design. And like all Sichouk carpets from Mischioff: incorruptible and uncompromising in the choice of materials.

Pure Chinese silk with a knot density of 160,000 knots per square meter and a pile height of eight to nine millimeters ensures a distinctive shine and feel for which these exclusive silk carpets are loved.

However, this material is often underestimated and is the best thing that can happen to a carpet. The silk is extremely hard-wearing, ensures a pleasant indoor climate, enthralls the viewer with incredible color brilliance and such a carpet also retains its shape over the long term.

The careful coloring of the Sichouk SI46, where light beige tones are placed next to soft gray tones and then stand out together again from the different shades of blue, underlines its thoroughly sensual effect.

The illusion of movement

Viewed from a distance, the surfaces of the Sichouk SI46 appear almost monochromatic, but when you get closer, a single color surface reveals itself to be a chain of harmonious tones of a color family. Connected in large and small ways. This creates the illusion of movement, which is further reinforced by the oscillation of the delicate silk threads.

Do you still see pebbles in a river, or do you now also feel the wind playing with the surface of the water when you look closer? Where is the art created? Is it already there, or does it only become reality with the eyes of the beholder?

The creative process

Every artistic creative process is communication, a conversation between artist and recipient, so to speak. However, there are other people who are involved in this conversation when the Mischioff carpets are created: the carpet weavers in our Manufactory in Nepal. It is not for nothing that we talk about craftsmanship here, as the skills these people demonstrate are so extraordinary that without them a work of art like our Sichouk SI46 would remain an idea forever.

At Mischioff, we understand these people for what they are: an essential part of the creative process. We value and protect people and their skills. They are the ones who make our knotting yarn from Chinese raw silk, they produce the colors by hand and they dye the yarns before they finally create a carpet like the Sichouk SI46, usually over months of manual work.
