Shaggy Plain Collection
A high pile carpet stands for coziness and creates an inviting and cozy living atmosphere. That is why the floor coverings are becoming increasingly popular.
Especially in recent years, long-pile carpets have found their way into many interiors. And it's hard to imagine the current issues of international home design magazines and interior design magazines without them.
The traditional brand manufacturer Mischioff scores with its high-quality and at the same time easy-care living companions and has high-pile carpets in different qualities and styles in the range.
We present you the advantages, but also disadvantages of a high pile carpet in more detail and offer you insight into the special world of Mischioff high pile carpets. Let yourself be inspired by an impressive quality and uniquely soft feel of our carpets.
Although there is no fixed definition, but as a rule, experts speak of high pile from a pile height of about 1.5 centimeters. However, the length of the fibers can also be significantly higher and amount to three to four centimeters. The longer the pile or the individual fibers, the "shaggier" the look - also known as "shaggy" in technical jargon. Although such a carpet looks cozy, it is not exactly easy to clean.
Differences can also be found in the material and manufacturing. Who pays attention to high quality, should always go for a handmade carpet from pure natural materials. After all, a cozy high pile carpet should give pleasure for many years. The fluffy comfort of long pile carpets is unparalleled and is suitable for almost any room. When your feet dive into the cozy high pile, you will understand what we are talking about.
Decisive for quality and feel is the fabric. Mischioff relies on pure natural materials. The company's own carpet collections are made exclusively of high-quality virgin wool, sometimes combined with fine silk or even pure silk. The high quality of the raw material plays a decisive role: the more valuable the materials, the softer the carpets. Therefore, only the highest quality wool types are considered for the traditional Swiss company.
Virgin wool from the Himalayan mountains, Chinese silk or even the sustainable and vegan fiber Lyocell serve as valuable raw materials for the versatile collections. These materials not only convince with their soft and fluffy surface, but are also robust and easy to care for. The natural materials are naturally stable and stain-resistant, which means that the carpets retain their elegance even after many years of use.

High pile rugs are cozy home companions, but they can also have some drawbacks. Shaggies, depending on the pile height, are generally harder to clean than other carpets. Despite regular vacuuming, dust and dirt can get stuck between the fibers. Therefore, such a carpet should be beaten out more often. For stubborn stains, professional carpet cleaning is recommended.
Due to the complicated maintenance, most Mischioff collections offer rather short pile carpets with a pile height of around eight to ten millimeters. But also high pile models can be found in our assortment: For example our luxurious Svarga Collection made of 100% pure high pile silk with a pile height of about two centimeters as well as our highly comfortable Shaggy Plain Collection made of 100% Lyocell with a fiber length of about three centimeters.
A disadvantage of the high pile carpet can be the linting and hair of the carpets. A high pile carpet loses fibers more often than a short pile one, because the raised fibers can be pulled out more easily. The most important criterion for quality is the density of knotting. The more densely a carpet is knotted, the fewer fibers it loses.
In this case, hand-knotting is preferable to the machine version. Machine-made carpets are qualitatively much more prone to strong hair, which makes the high pile lose elegance after some time. A hand-knotted Mischioff carpet with its careful and fine knotting prevents the hairiness of the carpet.
The high pile carpets of the Swiss traditional company are always handmade, high quality products. These designer pieces are far removed from the "shag rugs" often offered in furniture store chains. Perfect workmanship and the best material quality ensure that customers of Mischioff can enjoy their high pile for a long time.
With a large selection of its own carpet lines, the range offers the right carpet for almost every taste and interior style. The production of the high-quality carpets takes place exclusively in own manufactories in Nepal.
Before the high-quality material can be linked to a carpet, it goes through various work processes. In addition to combing, washing, spinning and dyeing the wool, this also includes the subsequent carpet knotting. After completion of the carpet, it is finally subjected to an intensive quality inspection by experienced employees.
The versatile assortment offers carpets of different styles: whether patchwork carpet, silk carpet or even vintage carpets - the Mischioff collections have something for every style.

Exemplary for our assortment we would like to present you some more of our collections. The carpets of the Marouk Collection are available in the individual desired size and in desired colors. Visually, these carpets resemble a classic Berber carpet, although the pile is smooth and not shaggy, unlike the Moroccan model.
Made from the sustainable cellulose fiber Lyocell, the carpets of the Shaggy Plain Collection inspire. With their individual and natural look, the uni carpets offer a special charm. With a high pile of around 30 millimeters, the carpets have an extremely soft character and are nevertheless extremely easy to clean.
Within the Nilanda Collection, there are some designs that work with different pile heights. This high-cut/low-cut technique creates special structures and accentuates special designs. By using different materials, this effect can be additionally intensified and an interesting design play is created. The pile heights here vary between five and 15 millimeters. We are happy to accommodate individual wishes in terms of color and pile.
Different pile heights are also offered by the modern carpets of the Tibey and the Mamlin Collection. Here it is the special loop & cut knotting technique that provides the different pile heights. In the background is a closed wool line, which is slightly irregularly overlaid by a silk line above. This effect provides the modern structure and decorative look of these handmade works of art for the floor.
