High-pile carpet made of pure Chinese silk
The Svarga SV06 is a designer rug made from 100% pure Chinese silk. Its pile height of up to 22 millimeters gives the rug a shimmering, dynamic appearance and provides a unique tactile experience. The history of silk production is over 5,000 years old. Numerous myths and legends surround its origins. However, there is no doubt that the cocoon fibers of silkworms, with their unique properties, were discovered in China. Their exceptional luster, high strength, insulating properties against heat and cold, and radiant color brilliance quickly made silk a valuable raw material, for a long time worth its weight in gold.
The secret of silk production was guarded by the Chinese like a state secret. Even though resourceful smugglers eventually succeeded in bringing silkworm eggs to other countries, China remains the world's largest producer of raw silk to this day.
The Fascination of Silk
The elegance and allure of Chinese silk have endured into modern times. Genuine silk carpets therefore always exude an air of luxury and possess a captivating grace and lightness.
This lightness is further emphasized in our Svarga SV06 by its exceptional color palette. Warm reds, oranges, beiges, and browns nestle against pastel turquoises and pinks; gently dabbed, they appear almost random, yet together they create an image of harmony and balance. Masterful craftsmanship
It is a particular challenge for our weavers to complete a rug like the Svarga SV06 to perfection. We only purchase raw silk from our Retailer . Everything else is done meticulously by hand in our Manufactory in Nepal. From the production of the weaving yarn, through mixing the correct colors with which the yarn is then dyed, to the actual Weaving , and finally to overlocking, cutting, washing, and blocking. It always takes several months until a rug can shine in its perfect luster.
For over ten years, we have been working on-site in Nepal with the Swiss Fair Trade label STEP. Certification by this label is both a matter of course and an incentive for us: to ensure daily that production, working, and delivery conditions are monitored, that social cooperation prevails among all those involved in the creation of our Fair Trade carpets , and that sustainability and social responsibility are practiced. Only in this way do Mischioff carpets become what Mischioff carpets are: an expression of masterful carpet craftsmanship .
