Rug Of The Month 2019: Mischioffs Picturesque Eye-Catcher Mamlin MA13
Art In Textile Form – The Mamlin MA13 Conveys Serenity
When Dani Misio, artist and chief designer at Mischioff, exhibited a series of oil paintings in an art gallery in Zurich about ten years ago, he did not yet suspect that the design would once become a popular rug collection. In the meantime it has become clear that the staging of his stripes in the form of carpet designs is very successful. The latest representative of the Mamlin Collection is the design MA13. It was presented to the public for the first time at imm cologne at the beginning of the year and turned out to be a magnet for visitors. Typical for Mamlin rugs, the design is made up of a multitude of finest lines to form a work of art. With its arrangement of multi-faceted brown and beige tones, which are complemented by gray and silver elements, the MA13 completes the collection skilfully.
The use of restrained nuances forms an unobtrusive contrast to the partly expressive colours that are also present in the carpet series. The Mamlin MA13 attracts attention with its harmonious colour version and represents the natural living trend. Warm earth tones flow into cool gray and silver, resulting in a striped colour gradient with smooth transitions. In the center of the design, a bright central corridor framed by dark tails paves the way and invites the viewer to walk on the rug. Its elegant appearance leaves a soothing overall impression and enriches modern facilities with comfort.
Material And Processing: Natural Fibers And Handcraft For The Highest Quality Standards
The combination of silk and wool from the Himalayas produces excellent properties. While silk ensures a wonderful sheen and stability, the highland wool makes the Mamlin rugs impervious to dirt. The high content of wool wax serves as a natural protective layer against stains and promotes a flawless appearance. The acoustics and the room climate also benefit from the sound-absorbing and moisture-regulating functions.
The careful handwork contributes equally to the quality. The Nepalese weavers have valuable knowledge and the necessary experience to produce precise results using design templates. Like all Mischioff carpets, the Mamlin MA13 is hand-knotted. The innovative Loop & Cut knotting technique is used: The silk lines are raised (cut), which makes the natural fibers shine to its best advantage. The result is the haptic impression of a pure silk carpet. The woolen lines remain closed (loop) and lie in the background. The design is accentuated by this exciting and highlighted by black loops.
