Mischioffs Rug Of The Month May 2019 – The New Design Marouk MK46
Marouk MK46: Colourful And Stylish Berber Rug
The Marouk Collection is characterized by impressive patterns and a sophisticated play of colours. Strong contrasts, Abrashs (natural colour gradients) and asymmetry bring forth imaginative works of art. The attractive designs that Mischioff has created by picking up on traditional Berber motifs make a significant contribution to the popularity of the collection. Already renowned architects and designers such as Alvar Aalto, Le Corbusier or Ray and Charles Eames used Berber carpets for their facilities. With the MK46, the Swiss carpet manufacturer has succeeded in creating a perfect symbiosis of tradition and modernity. The typical features of many nomadic Berber rugs, including light-coloured surfaces and geometric shapes, were used creatively: a base made of undyed natural wool delights with a delicate structure through natural shades. The diamond pattern combines six different colours and lays over the cream-colored background like a filigree net. The nuances between blue, green and orange were distributed irregularly on the pattern. The contrast between the background and the colour accents is comparatively discreet. Gentle shades blend harmoniously into the overall picture. Thanks to this restraint, the asymmetric pattern of the colourful diamonds creates a lightening atmosphere without causing concern.
High-Quality Wool Guarantees Long-Lasting And Superior Functions
As with all Marouk rugs, the MK46 uses only high-quality new wool from the Himalayas. The natural fiber has excellent properties: It is long-lasting, very durable, odor resistant and stabilizes the carpet structure. In addition, it has a high wool wax content, which makes the surfaces dirt-repellent and insensitive. Pure wool carpets are easy to care and retain their aesthetic appearance with proper care many years. They also look good on heavily frequented areas. Whether home living room, office or hotel lobby.
Not to forget the positive effects on surefootedness, acoustics and indoor climate. With a net weight of around four kilos per square meter, antislip mats are generally not necessary. The woolen pile absorbs sound, regulates humidity and is breathable - a woolen carpet optimizes the perception of premises in every respect. The haptic experience is excellent as well. With a density of around 93,000 knots per square meter and a pile height of up to twelve millimeters, the rugs are easy to grip and invite you to walk on with its gentle structure.
Skilled Handwork And A Customer-Friendly Price
Whether the spinning of the fibers, the knotting or the finishing as a final production step: The production of all Mischioff rugs is done by hand with the utmost care. In the Nepalese manufactory work competent weavers, who use their experience to turn design templates precisely into textile accessories of the highest quality. Since the Marouk models have a coarser weave compared to other collections, they can be manufactured in less time. The lower workload has a positive effect on the price and the delivery time.
Every Mischioff carpet is a fair trade product. As a long-standing partner of the non-profit organization Label STEP, Mischioff is committed to fair working conditions. Great importance is also attached to the sustainable use of resources. Further information you can find under Production & Fair Trade.
