When art comes to life

Mamlin MA15

Striped paintings are not an entirely new topic in art history. Important artists have already tried their hand at this abstract discipline. This also applies to our chief designer Dani Misio, who expresses his creativity as a painting artist as well as a carpet designer. But the fact that he finally came up with the idea of turning his painted striped pictures into carpets was something that no one had ever tried before him.

The technical challenges were no small ones, but thanks to our outstanding weavers they were overcome. The result became our Mamlin Collection . We have now been able to expand this collection with a new work of art, the Mamlin MA15: lively in shape and calming in color.

The jump into the cool water

In many countries it has become a tradition to jump into cold water on New Year's Day. Daring people jump into the Tiber in Rome, jump into the Elbe in Dresden and this custom also occurs on the Baltic and North Seas.

Don't worry, we don't want to throw you into the deep end, we just want to awaken a few dormant spirits. Because that's exactly what our Mamlin MA15 can do with its facilities, it brings them out of hibernation, so to speak.

The cool blue, which flows into one another with gray, brown and beige tones, becomes an eye-catcher and pick-me-up thanks to the stripe-shaped gradient. The viewer's gaze is drawn into the image of broken lines and harmonizing colors. The gold tones at the edge of the carpet form a conclusion and yet, thanks to the continued stripes, leave room for further thinking.

Craftsmanship that is second to none

What makes the Mamlin MA15 a true work of art is not just the design, but also the craftsmanship of the Weaving and the very special material used here. The Mamlin MA15 consists of equal parts of highland wool from the Himalayas and fine silk from China. Different pile heights of the two materials provide structure and thus an attractive play of light and shadow on the carpet surface.

The loop knot made of wool lies in the background, while a line of silk lies slightly higher and gives the carpet the elegance and feel of a pure silk carpet . The combination of wool and silk makes the Mamlin MA15 a durable and robust companion that does not lose any of its freshness and radiance even after years of use.

Sustainable production and fair cooperation

It takes several weeks to months to create such a carpet. The Mischioff Manufactory in Nepal is certified by the Swiss fair trade label STEP, which means fair pay for the people working there, care for small children and schooling for older children during working hours.

But it's not just the working conditions that are closely monitored, the supply chains and therefore the entire value chain are also subject to strict controls. Fair trade carpets are an important concern for the Mischioff managing directors and their partners and an expression of their understanding of quality and their appreciation for the artistry of their weavers.
