Rug of the Month May 2015 – the Tibey Uni
In May 2015 we would like introduce you our elegant Tibey Uni as our rug of the month. This particular rug is part of the Tibey Collection, an exclusive designer rug collection, which is in great demand because of the high percentage of silk and the special loop & Cut knotting technique. Thanks to this special knotting, the designs of these rugs appear slightly broken with a modern vintage look, which changes remarkable depending on the angle of view.
The Tibey Uni fits perfectly into almost any present living environment. The broken line structure of the high-quality silk carpet provides a fascinating surface and an unobtrusive look. Thanks to the special knotting technique, the Tibey rugs feel like pure silk carpets, although the rugs are made of wool and silk.
Overlaying Colours Create Fresh Appearance of the Tibey Rugs
Our rug of the month in May has got a very exciting appearance for a plain carpet: The Tibey Uni consists of two colours, which overlay each other slightly irregular by the special knotting technique. This provides a quite modern and pleasant fresh elegant look. All rugs of the Tibey Collection are made in this special loop & cut technique, in which only the silk lines are cut, while the woolen lines remain closed in the background.
Your own taste decides the choice of colours. The rug presented in this article shows a version with blue woolen loops, which shine slightly irregular through the gray silk line and give the rug its fresh look. These irregular overlays create a modern vintage-look and a unique character of every single piece. Like all rugs of the Tibey Collection, the Tibey Uni is produced in a manufactory in Nepal by experienced weavers entirely by hand with about 160,000 knots per square meter.

In the production of the Tibey Uni we are using exclusively highest-quality materials, like best new wool from the Himalayan highlands as well as high quality silk from China or India. These materials are responsible for the classy look and feel of the rugs. The Tibey rugs are easy to clean and very durable – despite the high percentage of silk. Like all Mischioff products, the Tibey Uni comply with all requirements of the fair trade Label STEP, the independent, international organization for fair trade with handmade carpets.
The Tibey Uni is available from stock in different versions in our standard size 300 x 230 centimeters. Furthermore, the Tibey Uni can be ordered in custom sizes and custom colours. Regular delivery time of available stock rugs is five to seven business days; individual custom orders require a production time of about four months.
