Marouk MK01
In our inspiration section, we present the Marouk MK01, made from 100% Himalayan highland wool. This rug comes from the Marouk Collection, which differs from our other collections in its slightly coarser weave.
With approximately 93,000 knots per square meter, these carpets are quicker to produce and also available at a more affordable price. Despite the lower knot density, the carpets in the Marouk Collection very durable and boast a dense and pleasantly soft pile.
Very durable carpets with a soft pile
The Marouk MK01 is a classic Berber rug with a light beige wool background and motifs in rich blue. The simple, graphic designs create a modern and decorative look. Furthermore, the asymmetrical layout provides an ideal contrast to otherwise more linear interiors.
All Mischioff carpets are made entirely by hand. Experienced weavers craft them in Nepalese Manufactory using exclusive, high-quality Himalayan highland wool.
This creates natural color gradients, the so-called "abrashes", an effect of the wool blend used, which further enhances the individual look of each carpet.
The smooth pile, with a height of approximately 10 millimeters, makes the Marouk MK01 a very easy-care and robust furnishing accessory compared to a long-pile, shaggy Berber carpet.
A combination of tradition and modernity
The Marouk MK01 is one of a whole series of different Berber designs within the Marouk Collection . This collection offers exciting and varied wool rugs that combine tradition with modernity and have been very popular for many years – especially because of their decorative qualities.
Berber rugs, for example, can be used to great decorative effect in a modern living environment. This trend is based on a long history. Originally, this type of rug came from the nomadic tribes of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.
The unique charm of these distinctive designer carpets did not go unnoticed by many renowned architects and designers. For example, Alvar Aalto, Le Corbusier, and Ray and Charles Eames repeatedly incorporated Berber carpets into their own interiors.
